Our new administrator has been reviewing our expenses, trying to find ways of improving services to our community while at the same time reducing expenditure.
With our community insurance due for renewal in April she sought quotes from other companies and identified one in particular.
I asked this company to study our existing policy and provide us with one which in every respect was as good as, if not better than, our existing one. This work has been completed and the result is a policy which is better than the one we have and at a cost €900 cheaper.
It gives this community €11.5 million worth of cover and, most importantly, gives that level of cover to locating and repairing leaks and also leaks from our community into garages. This was specifically requested by Maria (our administrator) and me.
I also took the precaution of speaking to the president of another local urbanisation with houses and garages below who uses this insurance company and he could personally recommend them.
There are additional benefits to using this company. The cost of control of cockroaches and rodents in urbanisation areas is covered as is unblocking sewers – another saving, and the exterior windows of every house is also covered.
The company is Catalana Occidente with an office in Zeniamar. The cost of insurance is €4,626 compared with the present €5,471.
I have asked for copies of the complete insurance policy to be supplied to me in Spanish, English and German so we can have these on our website in due course.
