Post Brexit : the GHIC replaces the EHIC

Following Brexit the UK European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is being replaced by the UK Global Health Insurance Card for UK travellers in the EU.

The EHIC and GHIC let you get state healthcare in Europe at a reduced cost or sometimes for free.

There is no charge for the card so if somebody wants to charge you then walk away.

If you apply for a card now, you will get the new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) instead of a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). They are both valid if you are travelling to an EU country.

Following Brexit the UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) replaces the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). It allows you get state healthcare in the EU at a reduced cost or sometimes for free.

If you are a UK national living in the UK then you will need a GHIC when travelling in the EU. When your EHIC expires or if you are applying now for the first time, you'll now need to get a free GHIC instead.

If you have an EHIC which has not yet expired then you can still use it in the EU up until expiry date.

The GHIC is free and can be applied for online from the UK Government/NHS website .... or directly from here.

Remember it is FREE so if anybody asks for payment then walk away.

Closure of the Western Pool

Hello Everyone

We have to carry out some essential repair works to the Western Pool in the next few days.  Therefore it will be necessary to close the pool from Thursday 24 September.
The pool will be drained in order to repair loose tiles on the floor of the pool and the rest of the Pool will be examined whilst empty.
The Eastern Pool will remain open.  Please continue to adhere to the cleaning procedures in and around the pool in line with the required Covid procedures.
Keep well and safe

Cancellation of this year’s AGM

Hello Everyone

It is with regret that this years Annual General Meeting which was scheduled for 29th September is cancelled. As the welfare and safety of all our residents in the community is our priority.
The National Health of the the Valencian Community and National College of Administrators have decided that due to the situation with Covid 19 it has been recommended to cancel all community meetings until at least April 2021.
In April next year the situation with Covid 19 will be re-assessed when hopefully a date for the meeting can be announced.
The end of the Communities financial year will still remains as at 31 August 2020 and the Administrators will be forwarding the end of year accounts showing the account balances as they would normally do.
As we are unable to call an AGM and therefore unable to vote the current President myself and Vice President Barry will continue in office until a meeting can be called.
The Community fees will remain the same and the payments for the first 6 months will be due in September as normal.
If there are any pressing matters that any resident may wish to discuss then please email me.  Unfortunately no big financial decisions for works can be decided until the next AGM.
I assure you I will continue to work for the benefit of all the community to be best of my ability.
Please stay safe and well
Regards
Jos

Service arrangements for Charles

The service for Charles cremation will take place on Sunday 23 August at 1600 hours in Orihuela. Only close family and friends will be able to attend due to Covid restrictions.
Anita has asked if residents and friends would like to attend afterwards on Charles’ patio at 1800 to 1830 for drinks and nibbles to celebrate his life.
Anita would very much like to chat and hear any stories that you may have about Charles.

Charles Barr

It is with deep sadness that I write to advise you of the passing of Charles Barr a very long term resident of our Community who passed away on Thursday 13th August at Torrevieja Hospital.
Charles and his late wife Lydia were amongst the first residents to occupy this Community over 20 years ago and Lydia was one of the first presidents of the Community.  Sadly Lydia passed away several years ago.
Charles was a very friendly member of our Community and I personally had many chats with him about his and Lydia’s life in Spain and his many hobbies including his love of painting.
He will be very sadly missed.
I’m sure you would all like me to pass our thoughts and condolences to his daughter Anita husband and their family.
Anita is currently here should anyone wish to pay their respects.
No details of funeral arrangements have been advised yet and due to the Covid restrictions we will await further information.
