The first doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Spain yesterday according to the ThinkSpain website.
A truckload of the vaccine crossed the border from France on Christmas Day and it was taken, under police escort, to the company’s Guadalajara distribution centre in preparation for rollout to other parts of Spain. It seems the transport of the vaccine is protected by armed guards and the storage location is being kept secret in order to keep it safe.
Every week Spain will be receiving deliveries of the vaccine which will then be divided out to all the regions for immunisation.
The first doses were administered to patients and health care workers at a care home in Guadalajara this morning and it appears they have started vaccinating today in the Alicante and Murcia regions.
