Update to rules for entering Spain

The Spanish Health Ministry is now accepting alternatives to the PCR test because it is too expensive and time consuming.  So air travellers who wish to gain entry to Spain are now allowed to show results for TMA and LAMP tests which are cheaper and faster.

According to the El Pais website authorities started accepting results of a TMA (Transcription Mediated Amplification) or RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcriptase Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification) from 10th December 2020. Samples for the test are taken with a nasal swab and the results are available within two hours and cost less than €100 as opposed to four hours for PCR and over €100.

Children under 6 are exempt and the results can now be presented in French or German as well as in English or Spanish. All arrivals in Spain still need to provide a completed Health Control form.
